Oh those wonderful three words. Not really a question, and i didn't sit to hear the rest of the conversation. I just left.
What do you plan to do with retirement? Plan on sitting back and relaxing and taking in that Social Security that you've been paying into since you were 16? Think again.
Social Security was set up as a tax but pawned as an insurance policy. Insurance policies had held up during the great depression so everyone was more willing to follow something that was like insurance. With insurance, you set up a fund and if you need it, it's there. You have something to fall back on. But Social Security is far from this. Sound kind of familiar?
It isn't. Not even close.
Social Security is nothing more than a tax. There is no account bearing money that has your name on it. There isn't anything. The Empire steals from you, calling it insurance and relies on the coming generations to keep paying so that they can pay you in the future. That money that you slave and sweat for is used for so many things that it's head spinning. How do i know this?
When the government was selling Social Security, they ran into a snag. They had been hawking it as insurance because people can trust insurance. Well, the Amish do not believe in insurance. They wanted nothing to do with it and refused to pay. So the gov sent over some of their goombahs and told them that they could pay into it but refuse to take payment on retirement (what the hell?). When the Amish didn't agree, they told them that it wasn't an insurance account at all, but a tax. So they HAD to pay. The government took one family to court and according, to 33 Questions About American History You're Not Supposed to Ask:
"The federal government used various means to secure payment from these Amish objectors, drawing from their bank accounts and taking a portion of their sale of farm goods. In one case, the federal government responded to a $308.96 delinquency by dispatching IRS agents, while [the family] was out plowing, to unhitch their horses and send them away to be auctioned off-all to fund a retirement program they didn't even want."
So Social Security changed it's identity to rob from the Amish. Nice. Nicely done. I love how our government is willing to steal from hard working honest people so that they can have their taxes.
It's time to wake up and invest in things that do not loose their value if you really want to start thinking of retirement. In 16 years, the baby boomers will be retired and we'll be paying 40% of our checks into Social Security. What happens 20 years after that when i plan on calling work done? Will there even be a dollar left? What will our country be like i wonder?
